There’s football at Christmas! See which games will take place on December 24th and 25th

The football calendar is busy all year round. And, although Christmas is a quieter period, with several championships around the world stopping, it is still possible to find games to watch on December 24th and 25th. The matches, in general, take place in countries that do not celebrate the holiday, for religious and cultural reasons.

In the list, there are even duels between teams. Sudan and Ethiopia, for example, take the field this Wednesday (25), at 11 am, in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers. There are four more Gulf Cup clashes to be played over these two days: Oman x Qatar and United Arab Emirates x Kuwait, this Tuesday (24), and Yemen x Saudi Arabia and Bahrain x Iraq, on Christmas Day .

The ball also rolls in national tournaments, in countries like Azerbaijan, Jordan and Iran – places where the majority of the population adheres to Islam and does not celebrate Christmas. Israel has a Jewish majority, which celebrates Hanukkah and also has games on the 24th and 25th. In Africa, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia also have games on those days.
