We live in the age of self-analysis. From psychotherapy to “self-help TikTok,” there’s no getting around one thing: Sigmund Freud, the inventor of psychoanalysis. He would have been 170 years old on May 6th. He changed the world with his revolutionary ideas from his practice on Berggasse in Vienna. He was celebrated like a scientific pop star – and fought like a charlatan. Even today he is revered and heavily criticized as the forefather of psychoanalysis.
