The shooter who was arrested after breaking through the security barrier at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the President of the United States was held, (Republican) with authorities, journalists and guests, was identified as Cole Allen, 31 years old.
According to one attributed to him, Allen is graduated in mechanical engineering from Caltech (California Institute of Technology) – one of the most prestigious universities in the country – and taught a test preparation course for high school students.
Graduated from Caltech in 2017, Allen taught a preparatory course for the SATs (exam used to pass universities in the USA). According to his LinkedIn profile, he was also an independent game developer since 2018.
In addition, he was a teaching assistant at Caltech, interned in the medical field and participated in research at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a NASA project. In 2025, he graduated from California State University with a degree in computer science.

US authorities reported on Saturday (April 25, 2026) that Allen had two weapons, a shotgun and a short weapon (which can be handled with just one hand), and “several knives”.

Trump told reporters he believes this is a “lone wolf”, namely, that he acted alone.
