Registration is open until May 22nd for food and beverage establishments in the municipality of Tavira that wish to participate in the XII Mediterranean Diet Fair, scheduled to take place between September 3rd and 6th.
The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Tavira, aims to reinforce the participation of the local sector in the event, considered a reference in valuing the Mediterranean Diet.
As part of the preparation, the city hall is carrying out outreach work with cafes, pastry shops and restaurants located in the area around the fairgrounds.
According to the municipality, this approach constitutes “a novelty in this edition”, as it extends the invitation to establishments that were not previously part of the event.
Participation extended to the local sector
Unlike previous years, the organization now includes cafes and sweet shops, expanding the network of participants and diversifying the gastronomic offer.
The objective is to “encourage membership and encourage active participation” of local operators, promoting greater integration in the event.
Establishments are challenged to create gastronomic proposals inspired by the Mediterranean Diet, covering meals such as breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner.
These proposals should prioritize seasonal ingredients and value local tradition, reinforcing the region’s gastronomic identity.
Experience beyond the fairgrounds
With this initiative, the Municipality intends to extend the fair experience to the entire urban and commercial fabric of the municipality.
The city hall emphasizes that the measure aims to “reinforce the link between the event and the economic fabric of the municipality”.
This way, visitors will be able to enjoy a broader offer, in addition to the activities concentrated in the main enclosure.
The strategy aims to boost the local economy and promote a more integrated experience of the Mediterranean Diet.

Participation is limited to establishments in the municipality of Tavira, encouraging direct involvement of the local community.
The Mediterranean Diet Fair thus once again focuses on the proximity and appreciation of regional gastronomy.
