There are still 18 strikes until the end of the year. How can they mess with your life?

The Christmas season will be marked by strikes in several sectors, from aviation to distribution, through registrations, to urban hygiene, in a total of 18 strikes by the end of the year, according to calculations made by Lusa.

Already aviationthere is the possibility of constraints occurring at national airports following strikes by airport services handling (ground assistance) of the companies Menzies, whose strike began on Sunday and lasts for five days, and Portway, which is scheduled to strike over the Christmas and New Year period, including a 24-hour strike on the 24th and 31st of December .

Also workers at large distribution have strike notice for December 24th and 31st.

The same scenario for employees in temporary work companies, in particular those who work in contact centers and telecommunications storeswhose strike began on Monday and ends on January 5th.

There are several public services that are expected to be affected by strikes.

This is the case of Lojas do Cidadão or the Institute of Records and Notaries, due to the strike of registration workerswhich began on Monday and lasts for two weeks.

Also the garbage collection in Lisbon will be affected, following the strike by urban hygiene workers at Lisbon City Council, called for December 26th and 27th, as well as the overtime strike, between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, that is, on period from December 25th to 31st, in which they were decreed.

There are also other strikes specifically aimed at overtime work, such as:

• to two primary health care doctorswhich began on July 23;
• workers at the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA), which began on August 22;
• prison guards of the prison establishment attached to the Judicial Police (PJ) of Lisbon, which began on October 23;
• of the social reintegration technicians and prison services;
• or the strike of fisheries inspectorswhich kicked off on October 21st.

All these strikes end at the end of the year.

Still with regard to overtime work, the strike by workers assigned to the Inter-Union Federation of Metallurgical, Chemical, Electrical, Pharmaceutical, Pulp, Paper, Printing, Press, Energy and Mining Industries is ongoing until the end of the year (FIEQUIMETAL), as well as that of land workers in the SATA.

Also workers at SILOPORa public company that is responsible for unloading and storing more than half of the cereals imported by Portugal, will go on strike on the 26th and 27th of December, as will workers at companies producing pulp for paper in Portugal. Navigatorin Aveiro, who begin a three-day strike on Thursday.

Strikes by workers at the Naveprinteron December 25th, and from Resinorteon December 26th and 27th, or workers at Zara do Rossioalso on December 27th.
