The Pulitzer Center is accepting applications for the sixth class of the , a fellowship program aimed at investigative journalists interested in covering the degradation of tropical forests. The deadline for registration is May 22, 2026.
The initiative supports reporting at the intersection of climate change and governance, focusing on three regions: Congo Basin and Southeast Asia. Those selected participate in a one-year scholarship, with financial support that includes salary (full or partial) and reporting costs, such as travel and hiring experts.
The program prioritizes investigations that reveal structural factors, such as global production chains, legal gaps and economic incentives. Proposals with a cross-border approach and use of data and technologies are also valued.
Freelance journalists or journalists linked to media outlets can apply, as long as they present a consistent project and are committed to publication by a newsroom.
Fellows receive technical training and editorial guidance and become part of a global network of environmental journalists. Registration can be made using the form available.
Portuguese Umem will be held on May 5th, at 12pm (Brasília time), to clarify doubts about the selection process. The journalists, special reporter for Sheetand editor of Environmental Investigations at the Pulitzer Center, will present details of the call and answer questions about requirements and selection criteria.
