After 90 minutes, with a ball thrown into the area, Marilson Nunes jumped and ended up deflecting the ball into the goal with his hand, in a move that recalled Diego Maradona’s famous “Hand of God” in the 1986 World Cup. The goal was validated by the refereeing team and ended up deciding the match.
Lusitano de Vildemoinhos reacted with a statement expressing its displeasure, considering that it was a clear error that compromised sporting truth. The club also recalled other episodes throughout the season in which it felt harmed, highlighting the importance of greater rigor in competitions.
Despite the dispute, the result keeps Ferreira de Aves in the fight to stay, while Lusitano is no longer able to avoid relegation, occupying last place in the table.
