Alcolumbre buries Master’s CPI in agreement with opposition – 04/29/2026 – Politics

The president of , senator (-AP), must bury the CPI (Parliamentary Inquiry Commission) and ignore the opposition’s request to investigate the embezzlements at the bank.

For the CPI to come to fruition, reading is mandatory in the Congress session scheduled for this Thursday (30), the . Alcolumbre, however, wants to avoid the issue and made an agreement with the opposition so that there would be no challenges to this decision, according to congressmen interviewed by the Sheet.

In return, Alcolumbre proposed a veto to , which reduces the sentences of the former president (PL) and others convicted of the coup acts of January 8, 2023. The tendency is for the veto to be overturned by Congress.

Like , Alcolumbre and the rapporteur of the dosimetry project, deputy (Solidariedade-SP), undertook a negotiation with the opposition so that the veto vote did not imply the reading of Master’s CPI request.

The Congress leadership wants to avoid the repercussions of the Master case, which could expose the political class even further — some of the party leaders, deputies and senators had a relationship with Master’s former banker, who became a highly unpopular public figure.

The agreement to analyze the dosimetry veto without reading the CPI was sealed when Alcolumbre announced the Congress session about three weeks ago, along with the hearing and vote on the nomination of Jorge Messias for the position of minister of the (Supreme Federal Court), which ended up rejected this Wednesday (29) by the Senate.

The government should not make an effort to have the Master’s CPI installed, as it understands that it is a negative agenda, which keeps the issue of corruption under debate and overshadows the government’s deliveries — such as the proposal to reduce working hours and the expansion of the Income Tax exemption range.

The request by deputy Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ) to open a mixed CPI, composed of deputies and senators, was filed on February 3 with the support of 281 parliamentarians. The focus is the relationship between STF ministers and Daniel Vorcaro.

There is also a request from deputy Rodrigo Rollemberg (PSB-DF) in , which targets Master’s deviations from the (Bank of Brasília). In the Chamber, the application is shelved as it faces a queue of previously filed CPI requests.

Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE) also proposed a CPI on the exclusive Master last year, but Alcolumbre did not read this request either. , and the case is being reported by the minister, with no decision yet.

Without the progress of these specific CPIs on the Master, parliamentarians from the allied and opposition bases used two other commissions that were installed to access documents, breaches of confidentiality and financial intelligence reports involving Vorcaro’s bank.

However, the CPIs on deviations from the (National Institute of Social Security) and Organized Crime were closed without extending the deadline by the president of the Senate. In both cases, there was no vote on a final report to take further action.
