After the defeat in , the Union’s attorney general, , thanked this Thursday (30) the support of the minister , of the (Federal Supreme Court), who worked to try to approve his name for a vacancy on the court.

Messias classified the months in which he sought to garner favorable votes from senators after being nominated to the court by the president () as a “challenging journey” and said that Mendonça’s support in the process was one of the “greatest honors” of his life.

“Your posture reflects integrity, kindness and coherence, serving as a source of inspiration for an entire generation of judges”, wrote the AGU to Mendonça in a post on social media. “May God bless you abundantly for your steadfastness in upholding the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ,” he added.

Messias made the publication in response to a tweet by Mendonça, who on Thursday night (29) said he respected the Senate’s decision, but regretted the rejection by the Union’s attorney general.

“Brazil misses the opportunity to have a great minister of the Supreme Court. Messias is a man of character, integrity and who meets the constitutional requirements to be a minister of the STF”, wrote the magistrate on X (former Twitter).

The minister also said that the AGU “fought the good fight”. “A true friend is not present at parties; he is present in difficult moments. Messiah, come out of this battle with your head held high”, he stated.
