O Red Bull Bragantino lost 1-0 to River Plate this Thursday (30), at the Cícero de Souza Marques stadium, for the third round of Group H of the South American Cup.
With the result, the Argentine club takes the lead in the group, gaining seven points. The Brazilian team remains in third place, with three points.
How was the game
RB Bragantino created the first good chance after just four minutes. Pitta stole the ball in the middle, counterattacked quickly and finished with strength, requiring a good defense from Beltrán.
River Plate’s response came at 18. After a free kick in the area, Salas headed the ball and forced Cleiton to go up to clear the danger.
After the hydration break, Bragantino started to press again. In the 28th minute, Lucas Barbosa received a cross in the area and headed it dangerously, but without success. At 41, Pitta had another opportunity in a similar move, but finished wide.
In stoppage time, Massa Bruta almost opened the scoring with a great individual play by Lucas Barbosa. The attacker started from the right, threw a hat at Rivero, left Martínez Quarta behind and finished through the middle, but was stopped by another save from Beltrán.
Bragantino returned from the break with the chance to take the lead. At the beginning of the second half, Pitta stole the ball at the edge of the area and was brought down by Mosquera. When taking the shot, however, Sasha hit the middle of the goal, making it easier for the goalkeeper.
In the 13th minute, the São Paulo team suffered a severe blow with the expulsion of Alix Vinicius. The defender committed a foul on Galoppo at the edge of the area and received a second yellow card.
With one more player, River Plate started to control the actions and put pressure on the attacking field. At 26, Aníbal Moreno took a risk from outside the area, but isolated it. Shortly afterwards, Cleiton made a good save from Galoppo’s shot.
Argentine pressure increased in the final stretch and was rewarded in stoppage time. Martínez Quarta appeared in the area after Lucas Silva’s cross and scored River Plate’s winning goal. Without a reaction, Bragantino ended up defeated at home.
