The opening of new supermarkets continues to create employment opportunities in many parts of the country, including part-time roles. In Amarante, in the Porto district, the arrival of a new Mercadona store in Portugal is arousing interest among those looking for work with reduced hours and a stable contract.
Recently, it announced that it will open a new supermarket in Amarante next October. The information is contained in the company’s communication, which says that this will be another stage in the brand’s expansion in Portugal, where it already has 72 stores.
New store will have 1,900 square meters
The future commercial space will have a sales area of 1,900 square meters and will feature several of the chain’s usual sections. Among them are butchers, fishmongers, cold cuts, pastries, bakeries, fruit and vegetables, perfumery, home care, pet products, wine cellar and ready-to-eat.
The prepared meal area must operate on a self-service basis, with options to take away or consume in the store, in an area created for this purpose. With this opening, Mercadona reinforces its presence in the Porto district, where it already has 26 supermarkets, according to information released by the brand.
Vacancies are for supermarket operator
The company is recruiting supermarket operators for this new unit on a part-time basis. The available opportunities, according to the portal, are divided between 20-hour shifts per week and 15-hour shifts per week, aimed mainly at those looking to work on weekends.
In the case of 20 hours a week, work takes place over five days, with fixed shifts. Remuneration starts at 7,646 euros gross per year and can progress up to 10,457 euros gross per year, to which food allowances, Sundays and holidays are added.
For 15-hour weekly positions, concentrated on Saturdays and Sundays, the salary starts at R$5,734 gross per year and can reach R$7,843 gross per year. Also in this case, food allowance, Sundays and holidays are provided. An extra week of vacation is also added to all these offers.
Effective contract and paid training
According to the information released, all offers include an effective employment contract and paid training from the first day. During this period, food and transportation expenses are covered by Mercadona, without the need to travel outside the region where the candidates live.
