The “shame” at Casa Pia-Tondela: lawsuit opened after disrespect

Referee André Narciso tries to leave the pitch after Casa Pia-Tondela

One goal, six expulsions, all against the home team: two against players during the match, four against coaches and managers after the match.

O Pia-Tondela House It was the game in this edition of the I League that ended with the most disrespect, with more tension on the pitch after the final whistle.

The duel was already expected to be “hot” because staying in the main division of Portuguese football was at stake: Casa Pia in 16th and third-to-last place, Tondela in 17th and penultimate place. There were 4 points separating the rivals, with an advantage for Casa Pia.

There were 4 points. It became just 1, since the Tondela won 1-0. Bebeto scored from a penalty in the middle of the second half.

During the game, only one goal. But two expulsions. And four more after the game. All for Casa Pia.

The players sent off were Cassiano (hit an opponent with his elbow) and Jérémy Livolant (arm to the face, second yellow card even at the end of the game).

Several members of Casa Pia ended the match in an atmosphere of revolt. They complained about the two expulsions; of the penalty, claiming that André Geraldes’ push on Tiago Manso was not enough for a foul; of a supposed penalty when Dailon Livramento fell; and they wanted another penalty in the last seconds, for alleged handball.

When the game ended, it was difficult for the refereeing team to leave the field. He was surrounded by Casa Pia players and managers, and the technical assistant Pedro Valdemar even tried to stop André Narciso from leaving the pitchplacing themselves in front of the referee – that was when the GNR intervened, protecting the referee team all the way to the tunnel.

Result for Casa Pia: red card for coach Álvaro Pacheco, assistant Pedro Valdemar, SAD CEO Tiago Lopes and communications director Catalina Ramírez.

“What happened here today is a shame for Portuguese football”, commented André Geraldes, a Casa Pia player, who was talking about the referees.

The Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sport has established a process counter-order due to these contempts.

The process aims to determine compliance with the duties and possible responsibilities of the promoter of the sporting event.
