Volkswagen announces recall of 118,000 cars due to software failure

Mandatory recall involves 5 models, manufactured between 2021 and 2026, to correct flaws in a part above the panel

The German group announced, on Monday (May 4, 2026), the recall of 5 models manufactured between 2021 and 2026. The mandatory recall aims to correct flaws in a part above the dashboard, which shows information to the driver. According to the company, the measure will involve 117,798.

The models are Polo, Virtus, Nivus, T-Cross and Tera, sold throughout the country. Here are the variants involved in the recall:

  • Pole RT644253 to TT640545 – manufactured from 2024 to 2026
  • Virtus SP003983 to TP007094 and T4000003 to T4900204 – manufactured from 2025 to 2026
  • Nivus MP012178 to TP030164 – manufactured from 2021 to 2026
  • T-Cross N4046494 a T4047371 –fabricados de 2022 a 2026
  • Tera TT300001 to TT900104 – manufactured in 2026

The automaker declared that the “combined instrument” can behave unexpectedly and stop working after being activated. According to the company, the error does not comply with legislation and increases the risk of an accident, with possible physical damage to occupants and third parties.

Owners will receive letters with instructions for service at the dealership, which includes inspection and, if necessary, software updates. Services are free and start on Monday (May 11), lasting an average of 2 hours.
