Lack of legal framework compromises urgent transport of children between hospitals, INEM technicians point out. INEM itself denies this and guarantees that the service remains guaranteed.
Pediatric inter-hospital transport follows specificities that must be properly defined and the ordinance published on Tuesday, in the Official Gazette, generated controversy. This Wednesday, a clarification was issued, but it still leaves open doubts, from the doctors’ perspective.
The Union of Pre-Hospital Emergency Technicians considers What the revocation of the order on this matter contemplates is worrying.
INEM technicians also consider that, with the entry into force of the new order, ambulances, with teams of doctors and nurses trained in pediatrics and neonatology, located in Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra and Faro no longer have a legal framework to operate and warn about the payment of a new fee.
However, the INEM made it known that the 2nd orderpublished this Wednesday, dispels the doubts raised by the first and regulates the inter-hospital transport of urgent critical patientswhich will continue to be ensured by INEM, through its own resources or through coordination of resources and teams available in the SNS hospital network.
