Iran is reconsidering the latest US proposal to end the war in the Middle East, announced on Wednesday the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs there, Esmáíl Bakájí. TASR informs about it according to the reports of the AFP and Reuters agencies.
- Iran is currently reviewing the latest US plan to end the war.
- After finalizing its positions, Tehran plans to contact the mediator Pakistan.
- Donald Trump has warned Iran against even stronger attacks without a deal.
- According to Trump, the deal will end Operation Epic Fury and open Hormuz.
- Sources say that Washington and Tehran are close to a memorandum to end the war.
“US plan and proposal still under review by Iran,” Bakají said to the Iranian news agency ISNA, saying that Tehran contacts Pakistan after “finalizing its views” which acts as an intermediary for talks with the US.
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened Iran with renewed even stronger attacks if it does not agree to a deal with the United States. According to him, if he does so, the war will end and the Strait of Hormuz will reopen.
“Assuming Iran goes along with what has been agreed – which is perhaps a rather bold assumption – the already legendary Operation ‘Epic Fury’ will end and, thanks to an extremely effective blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will be open to all, including Iran.” wrote the head of the White House in a post on his Truth Social network.
Trump did not provide details of the alleged agreement, but threatened Iran in the post that if he does not agree, “the bombing will begin and will unfortunately be much more extensive and intense than before”.
Reuters sources said that The US and Iran are close to concluding a memorandum to end the war. Disputed points such as the Iranian nuclear program, the unblocking of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz or American sanctions should be the subject of later negotiations, according to them.
Trump already announced on Wednesday night that The US temporarily suspends Operation Project Freedom, which is aimed at ensuring the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this step is also related to the “significant military achievements” of the US in the operation against Iran and to the progress in the negotiations on the final agreement with Iranian officials.
