A Ted Turner anecdote: It was at the World Economic Forum in Davos in the early 1990s. The author of these lines was waiting for an interview partner in a hotel foyer. Suddenly the elevator door opened and superstar Jane Fonda, then Ted Turner’s wife, rushed through the foyer. A minute later, media titan Ted Turner himself came, took a look around and asked: “Has anyone seen Jane?” Yes, that’s the direction she went, Mr. Turner. Turner stormed forward when his eyes fell on an upturned corner of the carpet. Quickly, the big man bent down and adjusted the tripping hazard. When he noticed the looks from those around him, he said curtly: “Got to make it better!”
