Pre-candidate for the Senate, the former minister Márcio França suggested this Wednesday, 7th, which Simone Tebet (PSB) or Marina Silva (Rede) are nominated as vice-president on Fernando Haddad’s (PT) ticket for the government of São Paulo. The design, in França’s view, would resolve the imbroglio involving the formation of the PT ticket.

França, Tebet and Marina compete for two seats in the Senate by São Paulo, while Haddad has not yet decided who his running mate will be – he sounded out cattle rancher Teresa Vendramini, former president of the Brazilian Rural Society (SBR), but she doesn’t want to be on the ballot.

In an interview with RedeTVMárcio França who, when he informed President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva that he intended to run for senator, heard from the president that he I would like Tebet to also be on the Senate ticket for São Paulo.

“That’s when Marina came about. As there are four people and four vacancies, this has to be composed of these positions. My suggestion is that there should be a governor with a vice-governor and a senator with a senator. This would balance the ticket”, he declared.

Asked if that would mean Marina or Tebet as vice president, he replied: “I imagine so, but it’s Haddad’s decision.” Still according to França, there is no point in talking about “balancing”, in the case of gender, and not complying. “On the other side, from Tarcísio, there are only men”, he added.

The current governor will repeat the double with vice-governor Felício Ramuth (MDB), while Guilherme Derrite (PP) and André do Prado (PL) will leave for the Senate.

Tebet has already rejected the possibility of being vice-president. According to the former Minister of Planning, she will run for a senatorial position or stay out of the polls. Marina has not yet taken a public stance on the possibility. At the beginning of the week, she ruled out being Tebet’s substitute, another solution that was suggested on the left.

A few days ago Márcio França publicly declared that he would accept being a substitute of one of the two. In the interview, he indicated that he maintains his pre-candidacy and that the statement was a “kind gesture”.

“Both Marina and Simone are two very prepared people, women, ministers, they have already competed for the Presidency of the Republic. Naturally, you must make this gesture ‘I accept being a substitute for whoever accepts being my substitute’. It’s normal”, he concluded.
