The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Friday (8) yellow alerts, of potential danger, and orange, of danger, for intense rains and gales in 24 Brazilian states, including São Paulo.
The orange alert for intense rain is valid from 9:10 am to 11:59 pm this Friday in Amapá and Pará. In these regions, there is the possibility of rain between 30 and 60 millimeters per hour or up to 100 millimeters per day, in addition to winds of 60 to 100 km/h.
Also there is a risk of interruption in the electricity supply, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.
Yellow alerts for heavy rain came into force between 9:10 am and 9:23 am and remain valid until 11:59 pm this Friday. They cover the following States:

In these areas – which include the capital of São Paulo and the entire metropolitan region of São Paulo – there is the possibility of rain between 20 and 30 millimeters per hour or up to 50 millimeters per day, with winds of 40 to 60 km/h. The risk of interruption in the electricity supply, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges is considered low.
The yellow warnings for gales came into effect at 00:00 for Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul and, at 12:00, in Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia and São Paulo. Both remain valid until 11:59 pm this Friday.
In these regions, winds can reach 60 km/h, with a low risk of falling tree branches.
