The governor (Republicans) minimized the impact on his (-PI) campaign, his political ally, and defended the investigations into the .
The PP would hold an event on Monday (11) to formalize the party’s support for Tarcísio’s candidacy, in , but canceled it after Ciro Nogueira was the target of a search and seizure operation authorized by the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court).
This Friday (8), during an event at the General Hospital of Itaquaquecetuba, in the metropolitan region, when commenting on both the cancellation of the event and the operation, Tarcísio said that, in São Paulo, he has a consolidated alliance with several political parties.
“The important thing here is the alliance that we have consolidated, which not only involves the PP, but Republicans, PSD, MDB, PP, União, Podemos. We managed to establish a very good relationship here between parties that are thinking about the future of São Paulo. These parties are very close together, they contribute to our project”, he said.
Asked if the connection with Ciro Nogueira could harm him, Tarcísio denied: “This has nothing to do with us, it doesn’t harm anything.”
“We are facing a huge scandal, a national scandal, a scandal of gigantic proportions, and this has to be clarified”, added Tarcísio. “The population demands a response, they can no longer bear to see episodes of corruption, they will no longer admit being harmed. It is a serious scandal, it needs to be investigated, investigated, it hurts whoever it hurts.”
Last year, he was the main coordinator of the project that tried to lead Tarcísio to run for President and helped in negotiations with the other center-right parties to make the project viable. He was trying to get on the governor’s ticket.
Tarcísio, however, had conditioned his candidacy on a request from (PL), his political godfather, who preferred to nominate his son, the senator (PL-RJ).
The PP should be on Tarcísio’s ticket with the federal deputy (PP-SP), who was Secretary of Public Security for most of the governor’s administration, as one of the names for the .
Tarcísio’s allies, however, report that the governor had already lost heart over the former assistant’s candidacy last year, when Derrite had difficulty approving the text of the Anti-Faction bill, which had six versions before being voted on in Congress.
Still according to people close to the governor, the investigations into the Master case, which have been around Ciro since the beginning because of his public proximity to the bank owner, were one of the reasons that made Tarcísio fight for the name of state deputy André do Prado (PL) for the other Senate seat. Prado is president of Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo).
With the support of Tarcísio, Prado traveled to the United States twice, on the Tiradentes holiday and this week, and in a video by former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) for the position.
