Falésia Beach, in the Algarve, once again gained international attention after appearing among the best-rated European beaches in a study by Hoppa, a company specializing in airport transfers. The beach, known for its colorful cliffs, white sand and crystal clear waters, continues to assert itself as one of the great postcards of the Portuguese summer.
Study analyzed European beaches
The Hoppa study, cited by the British newspaper, evaluated several coastal destinations in Europe to understand which beaches are the most attractive for a summer getaway. The analysis took into account factors such as Google reviews, average price of three-star hotels, airport travel time, weather, online popularity and environmental quality.
Falésia Beach is the European beach with the best average rating on Google, with 4.7 points out of 5. The same group also includes Platja de Muro, in Mallorca, Myrtos Beach, in Greece, Plage de la Promenade des Anglais, in Nice, and Playa de Poniente, in Benidorm.
One of the best-known scenes in the Algarve
Located in the municipality of Albufeira, Praia da Falésia is considered by many to be one of the most emblematic images of the Algarve. The blog describes it as an extensive beach framed by high cliffs in red, ocher and white tones, in a setting that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
Wide sandy area avoids the feeling of being crowded
The length of Falésia Beach is considered by the British to be one of its main attractions. The sand allows for long walks by the sea and helps to better distribute bathers, even during the months of greatest tourist demand in the Algarve.
Environmental quality also matters
In addition to the landscape, the beach benefits from recognition linked to environmental quality and bathing services.
The Blue Flag Association for Environment and Education identifies areas of Falésia, such as Falésia Açoteias and Falésia Alfamar, among the coastal locations distinguished in the municipality of Albufeira.
Algarve reinforces international projection
The presence of Praia da Falésia in this European highlight reinforces the Algarve’s international projection as a bathing destination. The region has accumulated international distinctions in recent years, including official references from Algarve Tourism to the election of Praia da Falésia as the best beach in the world by Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards in 2024.
