Israeli attacks south of the capital caused at least eight fatalities, despite the ceasefire that came into force in mid-April.
Israel launched two attacks on two cars driving in the Saadiyat areaon the strategic coastal highway that connects Beirut to southern Lebanon, about 20 kilometers south of the capital.
The news from the Lebanese National Information Agency (ANI) referred several attacks in different parts of the country throughout the dayduring which the Israeli army again issued evacuation orders in a dozen cities in southern Lebanon in response, according to the Jewish state, “violations” of the truce by the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah.
According to ANI, the attacks resulted in death of at least three people in an attack on a car near a high school in the city of Abbasiya, in the south of the country, in addition to three other deaths in a bomb attack against another vehicle in the Chouf region, south of Beirut.
Furthermore, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health condemned, in a statement, a Israeli drone attack against a Syrian citizen and his 12-year-old daughter who were on a motorbike in southern Lebanon.
O father and daughter managed to escape the first attack, but the drone carried out a second attack that killed the man “immediately”. The girl managed to get about 100 meters away, but the drone fired another projectile at her, seriously injuring her, according to the Ministry, who said she was transported to a hospital.
Another person also died in an attack in the Nabatieh regionalso in the south of the country, according to ANI.
Despite the cessation of hostilities agreed between Lebanon and Israel, the Israeli forces continued their daily attacks on southern Lebanondemolishing numerous houses in the areas they occupy in the region.
This week, they also bombed the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahye, for the first time in three weeks of truce.
However, the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah continues to attack Israeli targetsparticularly troops stationed in southern Lebanon, as delegations from both countries prepare for the third round of direct talks next week in Washington.
