Suspending dosimetry breaks “limits of the institutional relationship”, says Caiado

The pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Ronaldo Caiado (PSD)said that the decision of the minister of STF (Supremo Tribunal Federal) Alexandre de Moraes of suspend the application of the Dosimetry Law for convicts of January 8 goes beyond “the limits of the institutional relationship”.

“It is an attack on democracy and the separation of Powers. It is a deplorable decision in which Minister Alexandre de Moraes exceeds the limits of the institutional relationship”, he stated in a note sent to the press this Saturday (9).

In Caiado’s opinion, it is time to end the crisis that has arisen between the Federal Senate ea Supreme Court: “This arm wrestling between the Supreme Court and Congress needs to come to an end. This game of cat and mouse, this doing and undoing, is unacceptable in a democracy that we want to be mature.”

Moraes decided in the morning to suspend the application of dosimetry. The day before, some government base parties.

The judge’s measure, however, was classified by Caiado as “judicial activism”.

“This judicial activism only increases and deepens radicalization in politics and favors the polarization of extremes, something that has never been a feature of Brazilian politics. It only serves as a screen to divert debates specific to the electoral process,” he wrote.

“Stimulating an endless debate about the 8th of January, bypassing the representatives elected by the people to Congress, is condemning Brazil to have no future”, he added.
