Os concertos and Burn the Ribbons of Lisboa, that would take place this weekend, were cancelled. 6 days before the event starts.
The organization’s statement was published this Sunday: “It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of Queima das Fitas de Lisboa 2026. A recreational event that would impact the entire Lisbon Academy”.
“Above all, we ensure that everyone who purchased a ticket will be refunded. The refund request can now be made.”
In the video, in which the president of the Lisbon Academic Federation (FAL) and the president of the Lisbon Polytechnic Academic Federation speak, only the “difficulties and obstacles.”
In , Pedro Neto, president of FAL, explains that it was a matter of schedules.
“The main obstacle was that the license assigned by Chamber Lisbon Municipal Council until midnight was only extended until 1 am. We understand that it would be better not to do it, because it would fall short of expectations. In Coimbra and Porto it ends at 6am”.
The shows would feature musicians such as Miguel Luz, Samba de Ocasião, Zara G. and Más Influences.
Despite the statement indicating that “the burning of the tapes has been cancelled”, according to Correio da Manhã the rest of the program remains: the monumental serenade begins the party on Thursday, the 14th, continuing with other events until the following Tuesday, the 19th.
