An image of the singer was used on Samsung television boxes without authorization or a contract with the artist, who now sues electronics brand in US District CourtCentral District of California, for violation of image and publicity rights.

The lawsuit states that the The presence of the singer in the products makes consumers believe that she is an official partner of Samsungwhich is not true. Lawyers maintain that the singer’s image value is extremely high and forced association could harm future contracts with companies in the technology sector.

Dua Lipa sues Samsung for US$15 million for misuse of images in TV sales.

The singer demands financial compensation in the amount that the license would cost, plus a part of the profits that Samsung obtained from the sale of these devices, which would total 15 million dollars. The process includes an injunction for the South Korean company to remove all packaging and advertisements containing the artist’s face from the market.

Currently, Dua Lipa is one of the biggest powers in world pop, accumulating over 12 billion streams on albums like Future Nostalgia and three Grammy Awards. With a billion-dollar brand value and partnerships with luxury brands, the artist seeks to protect her commercial identity against unlicensed exploitation by the technology giant.

The process has started, and the Samsung must now present its technical defense to the court.
