Lula vetoes law that recognizes internships as professional experience

President Lula (PT) sentence the bill that recognizes the internship made by student as professional experience. According to the order, published this Monday (11) in the Official Gazette of the Union, the text disregards the pedagogical nature complementary to the educational training of the internship and compromises the selection criteria for public competitions.

The proposal was approved in April by the National Congress and determined the Public Power a responsibility to regulate the hypotheses in which the period of professional internship experience will be valid for public competition tests.

For the presidency, the legislative proposal is unconstitutionalbecause the provision of regulation generally attributed to the Public Power promotes centralization of competence exclusively in the President of the Republic, in violation of the autonomy of the federative entities and the independence of the Powers.

The veto was based on demonstrations of the ministries of EducationdManagement and Innovation in Public Services and from Attorney General of the Union.

When presenting the proposal, the author, deputy Flávio Nogueira (PT-PI), argued that the lack of professional experience is one of the difficulties faced by those who are looking for their first job and who project aims to fill this gap.
