The Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo reported, in a note on Monday night (11), that the explosion in a house in Jaguaré, west of the capital, affected at least 35 properties in the region.
The Government of São Paulo also expressed solidarity with the victims and families affected by the explosion. Until now, The three people who were injured were rescued and taken to medical care. The fatal victim is Alexsandro, 45 years old, who lived in one of the homes that were hit.
The administration also highlighted that they were immediately mobilized 15 vehicles with Fire Department teamssix from Civil Defense and several teams from the Military Police to carry out rescue and rescue actions.
Teams search under the rubble, with the help of dogs, and work will continue until finding or confirming the whereabouts of all residents of the affected houses.
The area remains isolated to ensure the safety of the population and allow security forces to work. The causes of the explosion will be investigated by the competent authorities.

One in the Alvorada neighborhood, in the Jaguaré region, in the West Zone of São Paulo, on Monday afternoon (11). The explosion is suspected to have been caused by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
According to the Fire Department, the injured are: a Sabesp employee, rescued by people who were in the region and two residents, rescued by SAMU and the Fire Department.
Initially, the Military Police had reported that a failure in an action by ComGás had caused the accident. Minutes later, Fire Department captain Karoline Burunsizian confirmed that during a Sabesp project, a gas pipe was punctured, causing the explosion. Floresto Bandecchi, Dr. Benedito de Moraes Leme and Rua Piraúba streets were the most affected.
In a joint note, Comgás and Sabesp commented on the explosion. Read below in full:
“Comgás and Sabesp deeply regret the death of a resident and sympathize with his family and other victims of the explosion that occurred this afternoon in the Jaguaré neighborhood. The companies are providing assistance to the victims, residents and other people impacted in the affected area. Affected citizens are receiving medical and psychological assistance and being taken to hotels. The companies will provide an emergency amount, worth R$2,000, for cost assistance while they assess all losses. Teams of veterinarians also work locally. The accident occurred during water pipe relocation work, when a gas network was hit, which led to the immediate stoppage of work. Companies immediately adopted all security protocols. The causes of the occurrence are being investigated and the companies are cooperating with the investigations by the competent authorities.”
