The president of , (Republicanos-PB), denied this Tuesday (12) having committed any irregularity in the case of (SP). They were transported in flight on the private plane of businessman Fernando Oliveira Lima, owner of online betting companies
On the flight, in addition to the businessman, known as Fernandin OIG, were Motta, his wife, senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) and deputies Dr. Luizinho (PP-RJ) and Isnaldo Bulhões (-AL).
On that occasion, the pilot of the flight, who is an employee of Fernandin OIG, carried suitcases and packages outside the airport’s x-ray machine, in a procedure that is now being investigated by . THE Sheet revealed the case. As parliamentarians hold privileged jurisdiction, the case was sent to the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
“My luggage and my wife’s luggage went through x-rays, especially because we have nothing to hide,” Motta said in an interview with radio station TMC. “I want them [Procuradoria-Geral da República] Please carry out the investigation as deeply as possible because you will find that all procedures were followed by my wife and I, as well as by the passengers.”
Motta stated that he was calm about the case, said that he always tries to comply with all the rules imposed on passengers on international flights, whether they are career or executive, and rejected “lessons” about the ownership of the bags.
“The footage itself shows the pilot, or the auditor – I don’t know what happened that was being investigated – go through the x-ray with those belongings,” said Motta. “The same footage can show that me, my wife, and the other passengers went through the x-ray and [que] all of our luggage went through x-rays.”
“If there was anything wrong with this flight’s procedure, it certainly wasn’t by me and my wife,” he concluded. Motta had already commented on the case at the end of April. At the time, he stated that, upon disembarking at the airport, he “complied with all protocols and determinations established in customs legislation”
The Federal Police are investigating the irregular entry of five suitcases brought from an international flight through Catarina International Executive Airport, in São Roque (SP), in the metropolitan region of Sorocaba, around 9 pm on April 20, 2025.
According to the PF report to which the Sheet had access, fiscal auditor Marco Antônio Canella allowed pilot José Jorge de Oliveira Júnior, flight commander and employee of Fernandin’s company OIG, to pass with the volumes outside the x-ray.
The Federal Police document says it is not possible to categorically state who the volumes belong to or their contents. Therefore, argues the PF, it is not possible to rule out the involvement of passengers with privileged jurisdiction in crimes.
The PF investigates possible crimes of facilitating smuggling or embezzlement and malfeasance. The process is being processed under secrecy and the rapporteur is the minister.
When contacted in April, Fernandin OIG stated that the items belonged to the flight commander and that the disembarkation followed the normal process. The pilot said that he does not remember the day of arrival, but declared that the process took place “in accordance with the rules of current customs legislation”.
“There is a standard procedure: each passenger disembarks with their belongings individually”, stated Jorge Oliveira. “I follow the same standard, and each pilot only transports their own items, so that, in any inspection, they are responsible exclusively for what they carry. In the company, it is a rule that no crew member carries passengers’ belongings, limiting themselves to their own”, he continued.
Senator Ciro Nogueira and deputies Dr. Luizinho and Isnaldo Bulhões did not take a position on the case.
