Aécio: Lula contradicted conciliation by vetoing dosimetry – 05/12/2026 – Panel

One of the organizers of the dosimetry bill, which reduces sentences for those convicted of coup acts, the federal deputy (PSDB-MG) says that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva “played to the audience” by vetoing the matter, approved by Congress, and missed the opportunity to make a gesture of conciliation.

“Lula could have made a gesture, respecting Congress’ decision. He missed yet another opportunity. He says he was elected with a speech of conciliation, but it is the usual PT, which plays on division, which prefers to ignite the debate”, says Aécio, national president of his party.

At the end of last year, he was one of those responsible, j, for articulating the approval of the project in Congress.

Lula later decided to veto the project, which was overturned by parliamentarians. Last Saturday (9), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, suspended the effectiveness of the law until actions that question it are judged,

According to Aécio, the idea of dosimetry was to bury the discussion about amnesty. “Amnesty for crimes against democracy is a dangerous precedent. With dosimetry, you maintain the convictions and reevaluate the sentences, which are exaggerated in several cases. I think it is fair. You have to have the courage to face this”, he stated.
