Spending on First Communion is a challenge for your wallet
Organizing a First Communion party is a huge expense for many Polish families. The rising prices of products and services from year to year make a formal dinner in a restaurant a luxury. Invited relatives must also take into account their wallets. In addition to creation and access, the most important element is a gift for the child receiving the sacrament. In our country, cash in an envelope continues to dominate. Such a gift allows a young person to fulfill their dreams or save money for future needs.

The amount put into the envelope depends on many variables. Traditionally, the most is expected from godparents and grandparents. In the face of the rising cost of living, godparents should expect expenses ranging from PLN 500 to PLN 1,500 or even more. Grandparents, in turn, usually give from PLN 300 to PLN 800. They often add souvenir gifts to the envelope.
From closer family such as aunts and unclesslightly lower amounts are expected. The standard in 2026 will be the range from PLN 200 to PLN 500. In turn, extended family and friends can limit themselves to amounts ranging from PLN 100-300. Please remember that if the entire invited family comes to the ceremony (e.g. a married couple with children), they usually hand over one common envelope with a correspondingly higher amount.
An important criterion in determining the contents of the envelope is financial situation of the donor. The gift should not be an excessive burden on the guest’s budget. Some people also use the principle of covering the costs of the so-called “plate” at the party, which in the case of elegant restaurants may result in higher expenses.
