Agency cites history of microbiological contamination in more than 100 batches from the manufacturer
The Collegiate Board of the (National Health Surveillance Agency) unanimously decided this Friday (May 15, 2026) to maintain the suspension of the sale of Ypê brand products. The measure affects detergent, liquid soap and disinfectant lines with batches ending in 1.
According to the agency’s directors, health risks were identified that have not yet been resolved by the manufacturer Química Amparo. They cited a “recurrent history of microbiological contamination” by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa in more than 100 batches of products intended for sale.
Anvisa’s CEO, Leandro Safatle, stated that the measures implemented by the company were insufficient. According to him, Ypê’s quality control failed to prevent or adequately treat contamination, which creates a risk for consumers.
Director Daniela Marreco declared that the health risk is high and that the agency’s motivation is technical-scientific, aimed at protecting public health. Director Daniel Pereira said that the company’s economic relevance cannot override the institutional duty to protect the population.
Although commercialization and use remain prohibited, the agency suspended the obligation to immediately collect goods. The decision considers the logistical complexity of the operation. To avoid the immediate recall of all products, the manufacturer must present a risk mitigation plan and technical analysis.
In a note, the manufacturer stated that the microbiological contamination occurred in a “punctual and exceptional”. The identified bacteria can cause infections in people with compromised immune systems. Anvisa advises that consumers not use the affected items.
