Fund in the US from the ‘Dark Horse’ case is linked to Eduardo – 05/15/2026 – Politics

The Havengate Development Fund, used to finance the film “” (“underdog”, in English) and which would have received part of the R$61 million paid by , is managed by Paulo Calixto, a lawyer linked to the former deputy.

This week, audios discovered by the pre-candidate for the Presidency show, to cover expenses for the feature film, which deals with the life of the former president (PL).

According to the website, around R$61 million paid by Vorcaro reached the Havengate fund, in the USA, through an intermediary company called Entre Investimentos e Participações.

The American fund was created in December 2020. On the law firm’s Instagram, a photo shows Eduardo hugging Calixto in 2023, highlighting the closeness between the two.

On the networks, Calixto presents himself as an immigration specialist, with more than 20 years of experience in the area and experience in the American citizenship and immigration service and the State Department.

The report contacted Calixto’s office, which informed that the lawyer will not speak to the press.

According to Intercept Brasil, it was R$134 million, but there is no evidence that the entire amount was transferred.

After discovering the case, the Federal Police began investigating whether the payments also paid for the former parliamentarian’s life in the USA. Eduardo denies it. On social media, he called the PF’s suspicion “crude” because, according to him, his migration status would prohibit him from receiving funds.

Eduardo does not clarify, however, what immigration status he had in the USA at the time the payments were made. He had his diplomatic passport canceled last December, one day after his mandate was revoked.

As shown by SheetEntre Investimentos, a company that would have been used by , is a shareholder in seven funds in the network (in four of them, the only shareholder). In total, these funds have R$2.9 billion in assets.

How Vorcaro’s money reached the fund in the US has not yet been clarified, but financial market experts explain that operations involving funds can occur in several layers.

In theory, an investment fund can acquire the economic rights to an asset assuming the risk and expected return of that asset. This same fund may pass on part of these rights or financial exposure to other funds or investors, through the sale of shares, credits or related financial instruments.

In practice, this structure creates a chain of intermediated transactions that can make it difficult to track the origin and final destination of resources, even though each step has formal justifications.
