Motta runs 5 km and defends the end of 6×1 at a Chamber event – 05/17/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, (-PB), stated this Sunday (17) that the vote on the proposal for the end of the vote must be done by the end of May.

“Our priority is, by the end of May, to deliver reduced working hours to all Brazilian workers,” said Motta, after running 5 km in 32 minutes at an event celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Chamber of Deputies.

He started the race alongside the governor of the Federal District, Celina Leão (PP).

“It is not a matter that belongs to a party or the government. It belongs to the country”, said Motta about the proposal.

He stated that the approval of the proposal is an opportunity for the Chamber to demonstrate that it is aligned with the interests of the population.

“If we can demonstrate unity around this issue, I think it is yet another demonstration that the Chamber will give about being in tune with what the Brazilian population advocates”, stated the president of the Chamber.

The PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) should propose a reduction in weekly working hours of . The idea is to also approve a bill — the — with details for some categories and other journey possibilities.

Motta the government’s project, which is one of President Luiz Inácio da Silva’s (PT) bets for this election. The proposal must be voted on together with the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) already under discussion.

The PEC must be voted on in the plenary on May 27th, which debates the reduction of working hours, deputy Alencar Santana (PT-SP).
