Vintage Ikea in the Palais: “There is nothing more boring than apartments made from a uniform mold”


A heavy iron gate, a surprisingly quiet forecourt, a staircase with dark wooden stairs. Anyone who rings the bell here in the third district is not standing in front of a classic old building, but in front of a piece of city history. A palace that was built around 200 years ago. “It used to be used as a single residential unit, but for around 100 years it has been divided into apartments,” says architect Xaver Marschalek as he leads through the entrance area.
