The police have confirmed a shooting in the vicinity of the Mosque of the Islamic Center of Mira Mesain San Diego (California, USA).
The first warning took place shortly before noon local time (20:00 in Spanish peninsular time). Minutes later and with the agents already deployed in the area, the force itself has notified having “neutralized” the shooter.
“We have important resources on the scene right now,” added the San Diego Police in a message published on social networks, where they have asked for caution and to avoid the area under investigation.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria has confirmed the incident as an “active shooter” at first. “I continue to receive information from the security forces. Emergency personnel are already on the scene and are actively working to protect the community,” he explained in his immediate reaction on networks.
The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has also reported the incident through a statement from his office that highlights that the governor is being promptly informed of the situation. In addition, he has highlighted the work of the emergency services and has asked to follow the recommendations of local authorities.
