The German prosecutor’s office charged the pediatrician with more than a hundred sexual offenses against children and adolescents. He should have committed most of the acts while practicing medicine.
German prosecutors charged the pediatrician with a total of 130 sexual offenses, which he allegedly committed against more than 70 victims. TASR informs about this according to the Tuesday report of the DPA agency.
The indictment shows that the victims were aged between two and 20 years old, while they are both male and female, the prosecutor’s office in the city of Potsdam said.
The doctor faces charges
The doctor, who was employed by the Havelland Kliniken network of clinics near the capital Berlin, faces allegations of serious child sexual abuse and rape. He allegedly committed most of these acts while performing his medical service.
The relevant authorities are expected to decide on the start date of the trial soon. The court declined to release further details.
Pre-trial detention is approaching
According to current German legislation, pre-trial detention should not exceed six months, DPA reminded. In the case of the pediatrician, this could happen already this month, since he has been in custody since November last year.
The alleged crimes were committed by the pediatrician during 12 years, from the beginning of December 2013 to November 2025, announced the prosecutor’s office, which was silent about the case for months.
The complaint revealed the abuse
The case came to light in January of this year after the mother of one of the children filed a complaint against the pediatrician. Hospital chain Havelland Kliniken said the same month it would review protective measures at its clinics. In the case of the child reported in January, the group said its protocol, which requires a third party to be present for a pediatric examination, was violated.
