Christopher Nolan says he never had a cell phone and reveals how he communicates

Christopher Nolan55, director of hits such as “Interstellar”, “Batman: The Dark Knight” and “Oppenheimer”, revealed that he has never had a cell phone. In an interview with the program “60 Minutes”, he confessed that he doesn’t even open emails and has no contact with technology.

According to the filmmaker, the decision is linked to the lack of interest in devices: “I never used them”, he says. He explains that he has even read emails printed for him by other people, when they are important and urgent matters.

Regarding cell phones, he says he only travels with a flip model, but that “” has made things difficult. “It’s getting more and more difficult. The return of the QR Code made it a lot more complicated. It had kind of disappeared, but Covid brought it back”, lamented Nolan. When asked about the possibility of adapting to the world of technology, he denies interest and says he believes his choice is just “normal life, as we all lived before”.

“Most people envy [o estilo de vida desconectado]. And that says a lot about the direction this all took, which is not a good thing. I feel very lucky not to wear these digital handcuffs. But that’s life”, assured the filmmaker.

In 2024, the director’s absence in the digital world became an issue when actor Cillian Murphy, protagonist of “Oppenheimer”, recalled that he received the invitation for the role through a telephone call from the director’s wife, Emma Thomas.

Nolan is about to release the film. The film will star Matt Damon as the hero Odysseus and will feature names such as Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, John Leguizamo and Zendaya.
