Government releases R$ 75.3 million for those affected by rains in MG

Credit will cover payments of R$7,300 to 3,093 families in Juiz de Fora and Ubá (MG), affected by the February rains

The president (PT) authorized this Wednesday (May 20, 2026), through Provisional Measure 1,361, the opening of extraordinary credit of R$ 75.3 million for Reconstruction Aid for families in Minas Gerais affected by the rains of February 2026. The benefit is paid in a single installment of R$7,300 per family. To date, 3,093 families in the municipalities of Juiz de Fora and Ubá have received aid. The total disbursement exceeded R$22.5 million.

The rains that hit Zona da Mata Mineira caused the deaths of 72 people. The volume of precipitation in February reached 733 millimeters in Juiz de Fora.

The Ministry of Integration and Regional Development states that it will continue to implement the benefit with the authorized resources. The granting of assistance depends on the verification of the information sent by the city halls and the self-declaration of the family responsible.

The federal government provides other support modalities for the population affected by the rains. The Assisted Purchase of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program makes it possible to purchase a new home with a subsidy of up to R$200,000.

Emergency lines of credit aimed at resuming economic activity in municipalities are available to local entrepreneurs. To date, 103 companies from Juiz de Fora and Ubá have contracted 118 credit operations. The resources granted total R$23.51 million.
