Collectives can now apply for the Arraiais de São João de Tavira

Tavira City Hall is open for registration, until May 30th, for the allocation of stands at Arraiais de São João, an initiative that will take place between June 20th and 24th at Jardim do Coreto, as part of the popular celebrations dedicated to the patron saint.

According to the city hall, “non-profit institutions of a cultural, social and sporting nature in the municipality” can register, with free participation.

In the rules for organizing the event, the Municipality recalls that “São João is intensely celebrated from north to south of the country” and highlights that there are “records of its celebration, in Tavira, since the 17th century”, also highlighting “the importance of these festivals for the population and the city”.

The city hall also explains that, “with the aim of perpetuating these festivities”, it promotes another edition of Arraial de São João in Jardim do Coreto.

The festivals will operate at different times throughout the four days of programming, lasting until 3am on the nights of June 20th and 23rd.

Ten stands will be installed in Jardim das Palmeiras and Antiga Lota

In total, 10 stands will be available, to be installed in Jardim das Palmeiras and Antiga Lota. If the number of registrations exceeds the existing vacancies, a draw will be held to select participants.

The rules also define that participants will be able to sell typical products associated with popular festivities, such as sardines, snails, bread, drinks and seasonal snacks, however, “it is expressly prohibited to sell ‘pig on a skewer’”.

The regulation also provides for environmental measures, determining that it will not be permitted to serve meals or drinks using disposable plastic utensils, and reusable or recyclable materials must be used.

Applications must be formalized by filling out the form.
