Four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost was the victim of a violent robbery at his home in Switzerland last Tuesday (20). The information was released this Saturday by the Swiss newspaper Blick, the most circulated in the country.
According to the diary, Prost, 71, was slightly injured in the head during the attack. One of his sons was forced to open the family safe, and the thieves fled with the contents.
The Vaud cantonal police confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday, without revealing the identity of the victims. According to the note, “several hooded individuals broke into the residence” of a family in Nyon, northeast of Geneva, at around 8:30 am local time.
Despite a search operation, the perpetrators of the crime have not yet been located. Police said “everything possible is being done to identify and arrest those responsible.”
Blick also reported that the Lake Leman region recorded a significant increase in this type of crime in the last year. The actions are attributed to gangs that cross borders and target collections of luxury watches, targeting victims with high purchasing power.
Prost is the greatest French driver in F1 history. He won world titles in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993, with the McLaren, Renault, Ferrari and Williams teams. Only Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton —with seven titles each—, and Juan Manuel Fangio, with five, surpassed his mark. Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen also have four titles.
