The expectation is that within five to seven days after surgery, the narrator will be able to resume activities, but the discharge date has not yet been announced.
Narrator Galvão Bueno is doing well after undergoing spinal surgery to correct a herniated disc this Saturday (23). According to his advisor, the legendary narrator “is doing well and continues to recover, under medical supervision”.
“This Saturday morning, the narrator Galvão Bueno underwent elective surgery to correct a herniated disc. The procedure, carried out successfully, has already been completed and everything went as expected”, says the note.
Galvão is admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital. The expectation is that within five to seven days after surgery, the narrator will be able to resume activities. He had been complaining of pain and expressed the discomfort during the Galvão FC program, last Monday.
“The recovery process will soon begin with physiotherapy while still in the hospital. The discharge forecast will be announced in the next few days”, informed Galvão’s advisor.
SBT must have Galvão Bueno in charge of 10 of its 32 matches broadcast during the World Cup. The narrator will be in charge of the games involving the Brazilian team, in addition to the opening, between Mexico and South Africa on June 11th, and the final, on July 19th. The others will be led by Tiago Leifert.
Galvão has participated in the broadcast of World Cups since 1974. In 2026, he will be in his 14th World Cup. The narrator told Estadão in February that this will be his last World Cup.
“The challenge and the pleasure are very beautiful. Working at Silvio Santos’ broadcaster. They are treating me very well. It’s a different environment and it’s worth it. I don’t know what I’m going to say later, but it will probably be my last World Cup”, he said at the time.
