La Paz – Bolivia’s President Rodrigo Paz is confronted with ongoing mass protests – now parliament has paved the way for a possible deployment of the army against the demonstrators. With a clear two-thirds majority, MPs voted to relax a law that actually sets strict rules for the possible imposition of a state of emergency in the South American country. Due to the easing, the head of state could now take this step.
