The (Central Bank) recorded that international visitors spent R$20.2 billion in Brazil from January to April 2026. The amount represents growth of 9.2% compared to the same period in 2025. The data was released while the Minister of Tourism, , is carrying out negotiations in China to increase the flow of Chinese tourists to the country.
In April 2026 alone, foreign tourists injected R$4.19 billion into the national economy. The value exceeds the R$4.14 billion recorded in April 2025 by 1.2%.
The Ministry of Tourism intensified actions to attract visitors from other nations. On Monday (May 25, 2026), Feliciano conducted negotiations in Shanghai with representatives from , one of the 3 largest Chinese state-owned airlines. The negotiations aim to open routes between Brazil and China, in addition to showing national films on the company’s flights.
The minister also met with the Association of Travel Agencies of China, an entity that brings together more than 3,000 companies. The proposal is for Brazilian destinations to be advertised on the CTrip platform, a global tourism company and controller of platforms such as Trip.com and Skyscanner, with a focus on attracting more Chinese tourists to the national territory.
The reciprocal visa exemption between Brazil and China created opportunities to increase the flow of Chinese visitors to the country. The Ministry of Tourism seeks to facilitate connections with operators capable of promoting Brazil to the Chinese public.
