Rubio says Cuba is “in trouble” because of its own government

Tension between countries continues as Trump alternates between talking about taking over the island or diplomatic agreement

The Secretary of State of the United States, (Republican Party), stated this Wednesday (May 27, 2026) that Cuba is in “trouble” because of its communist government. The statement was made in an interview with journalists alongside the President of the USA, (Republican Party).

“Cuba is in big trouble because, unfortunately for them, it is run by a bunch of incompetent communists. If being a communist is bad, being an incompetent communist is the worst. But the country has been taken over by a company called Gaesa, which basically controls 70% of the economy. None of that company’s money goes to help the Cuban people, nothing. So let’s talk to them, let’s work on it. We want something good for the Cuban people and we hope there is a good outcome for them. There needs to be. Stay 90 miles from our coast and having a failed state 90 miles from our coast is a threat to the national security of the United States.”said Rubio.
