Deputies from left-wing parties and allies of the government celebrated on the night of Wednesday (May 27, 2026) the Chamber of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution that changes the work schedule from 6 x 1 to 5 x 2 and reduces the weekly working day from 44 hours to 40 hours. The text goes to the Senate for analysis.
At the end of voting in the 1st round, deputies even chanted “olê, olê, olê, olá, Lula, Lula”. Some celebrated at the top of the plenary, next to the Table. After the end of the session, with voting in the 2nd round concluded, a group of congressmen sang and danced the samba in the center of the plenary. “I’m going to celebrate”famous in the voice of singer Beth Carvalho.
The end of the 6 x 1 scale was embraced by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) as one of the main measures to be presented as an asset in his re-election campaign. The president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), also started to defend the measure.
