Concession of BRs 116 and 324 between Bahia and Pernambuco provides for more than R$8.5 billion in investments and operations over 30 years

This Thursday (May 28, 2026), the federal government will hold the auction of Rota dos Sertões, a road lot formed by BRs 116/BA/PE and 324/BA. The event will be held at 2pm at B3, in São Paulo, and will be led by the Ministry of Transport.

The concession covers 502 kilometers of highways between the Feira de Santana ring road (BA) and the municipality of Salgueiro (PE), passing through 16 cities in the 2 states. The corridor is considered strategic for the flow of production and logistics integration in the Northeast.

The contract provides for R$4.13 billion in investments in highway expansion and modernization works, in addition to R$4.40 billion in operating costs over the 30 years of the concession.

Among the planned interventions are duplications, implementation of additional lanes, marginal roads, walkways, access devices and operational improvements aimed at road safety. The project also includes intelligent monitoring systems, user support, ambulances, tow trucks and a Stop and Rest Point (PPD) for truck drivers.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the auction marks the 24th road project promoted by the current government. In 2025, the department held 13 highway auctions.
