The Iranian agency Tasnim denied this Thursday (28) that the text of a possible agreement to advance negotiations between Iran and the United States is ready.
The information was passed on by a source close to the Iranian negotiating team. The agency also highlighted that the country’s authorities did not send confirmation about a possible memorandum of understanding to Pakistani mediators.
“If the text is indeed finalized, Iran will announce the matter to the Pakistani mediator and the population,” highlighted Tasnim, refuting what it called the “narrative of Western sources.”
Earlier, sources told CNN and Reuters that Iranian and American negotiators had reached a tentative agreement to extend the ceasefire for 60 days and unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
According to authorities interviewed by CNN, the memorandum would include provisions to lift restrictions in Hormuz, such as unrestricted navigation of vessels and an end to the American blockade.
In addition, it would begin a 60-day period for negotiations to take place on the Iranian nuclear program — the main point that the White House wants to debate.
