The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, said that the United States’ decision to classify PCC and CV as terrorist organizations will harm Brazilian families and also the business community. In an interview with GloboNews on Friday night (29) he compared this Friday’s US decision to last year’s tariffs.

“Pix is very misunderstood by a number of private North American companies and other countries that have lost their position as an intermediary between company operations and people in Brazil”, he maintained. He then argued that Pix is Brazil’s sovereign infrastructure and it is important to protect the instant payment tool.

“Pix is not exactly a product that will compete with North American companies, it is a payment infrastructure created in Brazilinnovative and which has to be highly regarded and well guaranteed by us”, he added.

“Both Visa and Master, two large credit card companies, have always complained about Pix in Brazil, and I’m saying this because I said this to the US government. They most recently have recognized the role of Pix and said, Pix increased the volume of operations that these companies have in Brazil. So not only is Pix good for Brazilians, but Pix is good for business, it is good for multinational companies that operate in Brazil, because there is more dynamism in the economy”, he argued.

In reference to the Bolsonaro family, he said that information may have reached the American authorities that factions are using Pix and motivating an attack on it. “Which is absurd. And we see that, once again, we see this family, which goes to the United States looking for electoral measures, could again cause a lot of damage, a lot of embarrassment, including to Pix.”

This week, senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) was in the USA for an appointment with President Donald Trump. One of his brothers, former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, has been living in the country since March last year, having had his mandate in the Chamber revoked due to absences.
