Hours after the Brazilian’s victory against the Serbian, Casper Ruud and American Tommy Paul played another exciting match on clay in Paris. In a game of five sets, the Norwegian beat his opponent by 3 sets to 2, partials of 4/6, 6/7 (4/7), 6/4, 7/6 (7/4) and 7/5, and guaranteed a place in the round of 16.
One of the top seeds in the Grand Slam, Fonseca debuted in the first round with a comfortable victory over Frenchman Luka Pavlovic by 3 sets to 0.
