PSD evaluates Kassab as vice-president on Caiado’s ticket

Members of the party’s political council said they intend to make the announcement in June

The national president of the PSD, began to be considered internally to serve as vice-president on the presidential ticket of the former governor of Goiás, (PSD). Members of the party’s political council told the Poder360 that the party intends to advance discussions on the composition of the ticket in June.

This is not the first time that the leader’s name has been considered for a vice-presidential candidacy. Kassab has already signaled to allies that he could join a ticket headed by the governor of São Paulo, (Republicans), in a possible dispute for the Presidency. However, the governor maintained his decision to run for re-election after the senator (PL-RJ) confirm the intention to run for Planalto.

The PSD assesses that there is room for Caiado’s electoral growth given the high rejection of the main names currently placed in the presidential race, especially the president (PT) and Flávio.

Survey of the Means/Idea, on Thursday (May 28, 2026), shows that Lula leads the rejection rate among presidential candidates. According to the survey, 46.7% of respondents said they would not vote “no way” in the PT for a new term.

Next, the former Minister of Finance appears, (PT), with 42%. Flávio Bolsonaro records a 39.8% rejection rate and occupies 3rd position in the ranking.

Caiado remains stagnant

Despite the assessment of allies that the scenario could open space for alternative candidacies in the center-right field, Caiado has not yet managed to transform this environment into growth in polls.

AtlasIntel/Bloomberg survey, one of the first carried out after the involving Flávio Bolsonaro and the founder of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro, drop of 6 percentage points for the senator in a possible 2nd round compared to April. The pre-candidate registered 41.8% of voting intentions.

There was the expectation that part of this electorate would migrate to other pre-candidates from the same ideological camp. The movement, however, benefited the businessman more (Missão), which came in 3rd place in voting intentions, surpassing Caiado and the former governor of Minas Gerais, (New), in some survey scenarios.

The PoderData/Aya research, this Friday (May 29), indicates that Caiado remains stagnant. The governor appears with 3% of voting intentions and is technically tied with Renan Santos, (Christian Democracy) and (Forward).
