Fine for those who do not declare can reach 20% of the value
O Deadline for submitting the 2026 Personal Income Tax Declaration (IRPF) ends this Friday (29) at midnight. Anyone who fails to submit the declaration within the deadline will be subject to fine of 1% per month on the amount of tax due, with collection minimum of R$ 165.74 and can reach up to 20% of the tax.
According to the Federal Revenue Service (RFB), after midnight, the system will no longer receive statements until 9 am on Monday (1). The RFB advises those who left it until the last minute to use the pre-filled declaration, to speed up the insertion of information and avoid errors when filling out.
If there is a difference between the values declared by paying sources or service providers, the taxpayer must inform the real value of the transactions that he can prove with receipts, invoices or proof of income. Until 9am this Friday, 40.2 million documents had been sent.
Restitution
The final shipping date also marks the start of payment of the first batch of refundsaimed at taxpayers who sent their declaration in advance and are part of the priority groups. In total, they will be released R$16 billion in credits for 8.75 million people, the biggest lot ever paid of history.
Refunds will be credited throughout the day, depending on the processing of each financial institution. The IRS advises that taxpayers wait until the end of the day to make the depositas credit hours may vary between banks.
The RFB also reminds that anyone who chose to allocate funds for children and teenagers and funds for elderly people directly in the declaration must collect the Darf by midnight. If the Darf is collected at a later date, the amounts paid cannot be deducted.
